‘The lap dance is always better when the stripper’s crying??”
Is this a soft porn yet depressing country song that inspired Rone to be so poetic, insightful and a little depressing with his rant? Perhaps not…
Do I blame the above quoted lyrics for Rone’s multiple endeavors at humor throughout podcast that were… just not up to Rone’s snuff? :P (I still reminisce of Rone’s classic Foo Fighters comment for the Prophecy plug)
Is Rone Barton an unwitting avatar of one of Ladies of Sorrow?
Hmmmm… So much to ponder?
As I go to work surrounded by alcohol I will ponder if a drink in the store has my name on it, and if I find that Rone has turned to releasing country songs and there is a tremendous resurgence in his musical career because of this… I will drink rather heavily!
Aye, this a bit too obscure and rambly isn’t it?
Cheers guys!
Sean
Cthulhu phtagn Manhattan! (the drinkie)
Thanks for the comments, Sean. No you weren’t too rambly.
It sounds like this episode put you in a bad place, man. I’m sorry. LOL
I was afraid people wouldn’t like this rant’s poetic and sad direction, but I’ve actually received a couple of compliments including “best one yet.” So I suppose it’s a different strokes kinda thang, but I promise to hate the stuffing out of something come next show! ;)
“Knock knock.”
“Who’s there?”
“Kith.”
“Kith who?”
“Cthulhu. Aaaaaaaa!”
“Let’s hear it from the horse’s Innsmouth…”
Not up to snuff? PISHAW I SAY!
Hmmm… The rant wasn’t what I was expecting, but still good. Throw in a couple of “DEVIL WOMAN YOU WILL NOT BREAK ME” anecdotes, and it would be reminiscent of some of Rollins’ stuff. I wouldn’t say it was better than your usual fare, but I also won’t say it was worse.
On another note, my roommate thinks your podcast is awesome, and he doesn’t even game.
Ah yes- the best one yet comment was probably Madchen Amick and that of course put you on Cloud 9. Either that or some luminescent female who happens to be a gamer! Damn you Rone Barton! :P
Sigh, I’m just one of the few listeners that KNOWS that you’re capable of better material! :P
Different folks for different strokes, er.. Didn’t come out right.
Or maybe it was Michelle Yeoh who said that…. ? : )
Dave, thanks for your read, and tell your roommate I think HE’S awesome!
Sean, I don’t want to out the dude who wrote me a letter and thought that rant was the best one yet, but it was a dude!
What’s great is that this is enough of a reaction over the rant that it’ll be something for me to talk about during the next show. Should be fun. Listeners clamoring for the hate! lol
While I’m not a big Cthulhu fan (like most people seem to be), I do love it when Cthulhu stars in your episodes :D
Aliens versus Ghosts—
This could be a dissertation, but let me see if I can boil my thoughts down to a couple of sentences.
Aliens—great for the Cold War era us versus them mentality. Invaders who look and talk different though the creepiest ones are those that look and talk like us.
Ghosts—great for the post-Cold War, security state era. The enemy is us—us trapped between living and dying, the ultimate identity crisis.
Just joined the party guys and really enjoy your level of discourse and production quality.
Keep it coming.
