Eureka! Eureka (Atomic Array 056)

‘501 Adventure Plots to Inspire Game Masters’ - that’s the claim made of Eureka by the Gnomes behind the newest book from Engine Publishing. And it delivers. 501 plots across the fantasy, science fiction and horror genres, fleshed out and ready for Game Masters to plunder and use. We asked three of the creators to join us and talk about their creation.

It bears mentioning that the punk in my rant was about 6′5, 270 lbs… so I stand behind my arrogantly proud and amused tone in recalling events. Hope I didn’t come across as a dink. Different chemicals in the brain back then. These days I use my paternal words to bring down goliath meanies. Far more effective and less damaging. Anyway… anyone wanna buy a pair of old boots, barely worn?

And this show released a week after we thought it would, so do NOT go to Gamex now… it’s been over for a week. ;) Hey, doesn’t my professor sound like the Futurama guy?

Another winner of an episode. Good news everybody!

Thank you, sir!

Phil, John and Matt knocked it out of the park! Way to go, fellow gnomes! A large part of the organization/indexing/inspiring art direction goodness of Eureka is owed to those three. The contributions of those three should more truly be described as mythic forces behind Eureka.

If I may, I’d like to echo one of the comments made during the podcast and say the real utility of Eureka comes from the 36 dramatic situations. Some, like the self-sacrifice themes and the kinsmen themes and especially the eight dealing with love/adultery created some genuinely UNIQUE roleplaying experiences, that, regardless of game system, are plots that will challenge your PCs in enjoyable new ways.

How ironic, I just downloaded Eureka last week for ideas to help kickstart my new Pathfinder campaign. I grabbed two plots and jammed ‘em together, and hey presto! Worked a treat!

Troy, thanks for the insight on the self-sacrifice, kinsmen, and adultery themes. I’ll go check those out specifically.

Ben, I’m glad to hear the road test went so well. Aces!
